Frank Sebastian Striffler

January 28, 1876 - February 9, 1946

 ​A funeral director in McKeesport, PA for 45 years, widely known throughout the area was the president of the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler funeral home. He died at the age of 70 at his home on Huey Street. He was a member of the McKeesport Housing Authority, President of the McKeesport Mortgage Company, and Director of the McKeesport Community Savings and Loan Association. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War and was a member of the Captain John C. Gregg Camp/Spanish War Veterans. Mr. Striffler also was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, the parish church committee, and Holy Name Society. He was a member of many other catholic organizations including, The McKeesport Knights of Columbus #955, Fourth Degree, The University Catholic Club of Pittsburgh, The Youghiogheny Country Club, NO 285 B.P.O Eagles, McKeesport Lodge NO. 138, B.P.O. Elks, The McKeesport Rotary Club, The National Funeral Directors Association, and The Allegheny County Funeral Directors Association. He also served on the McKeesport Rationing Board. He was born in Meadville, PA on January 28, 1876, a son of the late Frank Adam and Helen Michel Striffler. He is survived by his wife, Emma Sautter Striffler, daughter, Mrs. Charles (Patricia) C. Hassel of McKeesport, one granddaughter, sisters Margaret B. Carew of McKeesport, and Mrs. J. H. Peters of Windsor Ontario, Canada, and one brother, Edgar Jacob Striffler with whom he had been associated in business with in McKeesport. Friends were received at the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler Funeral Home and a requiem Mass was held in St. Peter's Church in McKeesport by the Rev. Patrick J. O'Connor. Burial followed.
