Obituary of Rose Shushereba

Rose Shushereba, age 93 of Harrison City, died Monday, October 1, 2018.  She was born August 16, 1925 in Wilmerding, the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Danylo Mycyk, and the wife of the late Theodore Shushereba. 

During WWII, after working 2nd shift at Westinghouse Air Brake as a riveter, Rose would write 10 to 15 letters every night to servicemen as her part for the war effort.  After the war ended, she was employed at the former Gimbels Dept. Store in Monroeville.

She is survived by her children, Theodore Joseph (Debbie) Shushereba of Stewartstown, Kathy (Kevin) Matson of Harrison City and David John (Patricia) Shushereba of Burlington, KY; grandchildren, Theodore Joseph (the late Dr. Jenn Gonzales-Shushereba) Shushereba, Patrick and Christian Shushereba; sister, Helen (Lyle) Seibert-Leathers of Monroeville, also, nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by siblings, Michael Maschock, Mary Garrick, Johnny Mycyk, and Ann Wolfgang; and great granddaughter, Cecilia Rose;

A mass will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church , 1907 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA  15132, with Father Greg Madeya officiating.  Burial will follow.
